Design your room
Let’s start by saying that the typical Japanese bathroom does not include sanitary ware that is separated into another room. In addition, the bathroom itself is divided into two parts: the first is dedicated to the sink and the place to undress, and the second is dedicated to the shower or deep tub.
Room Plan
In this solution, I wanted to hypothesize obtaining two rooms separated by a space of 40 sqft. A small part is dedicated to the toilet and a second for the Japanese bath.
As you can see from the measurements and a solution that can be recreated in most homes.
The Budget
Japanese-style bathrooms aren’t famous for being cheap. In this reconstruction, I looked for elements that can be durable and as inexpensive as possible. In the end, you can recreate a similar design with 7.100 $, excluding any costs of professionals such as a bricklayer, plumber, or electrician. Those who want to save the costs of professionals can always do with DIY.
The Japanese Bathtub
Like the one in the picture, the tub is generally a very expensive piece of design and challenging to find on the local market. Therefore, I decided to use two variants that are both widely used in Japanese-style bathrooms and allow you to recreate a similar design with lower costs. The choice can fall between wooden materials such as bamboo or copper.
Wooden Soaking Bathtub

Bathroom Sink
In the picture, there is no sink, but in our project, I decided to add two. One in the first part of the bathroom and one in the toilet next door. The sink to maintain the style must be minimal. Better if in wood, but given the costs, you can also opt for less expensive minimal sinks like this one below from IKEA.

Separate the two environments
As we said, the typical Japanese bathrooms divide the bathroom into two rooms (three if we consider that the toilet is located in a separate room), where the part of the sink and wardrobe is separated from the part of the shower or bathtub. In our design, I opted for a transparent glass or checked door to divide the two rooms while letting the light through.
